PEARL, MS — Mississippi Braves Assistant General Manager Jim Bishop was selected as the 2015 Southern League Outstanding Employee of the Year.

“I am honored to receive this inaugural Southern League award,” Bishop said. “It is a joy to come to Trustmark Park daily and work with an excellent Braves staff and support team. It is our pleasure in carrying on the outstanding tradition of Southern League Baseball in the state of Mississippi.”
A native of Greenville, SC, Bishop is in his 20th season as Assistant GM and his 23rd season overall with the Double-A Braves. He assists in managing the sales staff along with the hiring and managing of over 300 seasonal/game-day employees. Bishop oversees stadium operations and coordinates outside special events hosted at Trustmark Park each year. He also oversees the M-Braves annual trainee program.
Bishop was recently named as the Southern League Marketing Committee Chairman. He is also involved in various community and non-profit organizations including Brandon High School Athletics, The Salvation Army and the Pearl Kiwanis Club-just to name a few.
“Bish” as he’s more commonly known throughout the ballpark and the baseball family, is a 1992 graduate of the University of South Carolina with a bachelor’s degree in Sports Administration. While in school, he worked for the USC Athletic Department, serving as student equipment manager with the Gamecock football team.
He began his tenure with the Double-A Braves in 1992 as a food and beverage intern before concluding the season as Visiting Clubhouse Manager. Bishop served as Food & Beverage Director (1993) and Ticket Manager (1994-95) before being named Assistant General Manager in the fall of 1996. He was one of four employees to make the move when the Greenville Braves relocated to Pearl in 2005.

Bishop resides in Brandon with his wife, Krista, and their two sons, Jack and Davis. He enjoys spending time with his family, an occasional round of golf and cheering on the Braves and Gamecocks.

The Mississippi Braves baseball team is the Double-A affiliate of the Atlanta Braves. Since the inaugural 2005 season, over 100 M-Braves have gone on to play in the big leagues. The M-Braves have made postseason play three times and went on to win the Southern League Championship in 2008. Season tickets for 2016 are on sale now.
