Landoni Named Southern League Player of the Week

PEARL, MS — Mississippi Braves infielder Emerson Landoni was named Southern League Player of the Week for the week of July 6-12. In six games for the M-Braves that week, Landoni posted a .556 batting average with six extra-base hits and five RBI.Landoni, 26, had an .815 slugging percentage in those six contests. In 74 games for the Double-A Braves this season, Landoni has a .266 average with 10 doubles, three triples and 21 RBI. He’s struck out just 23 times while walking 14 times this season. Landoni is hitting .349 against southpaws and has a .362 average thus far for the month of July.The Maracay, Venzuela, native was signed by the Braves as a free agent on December 20, 2011. He was originally signed as a non-drafted free agent by the Marlins in December 2005 but was released prior to the 2007 season. Landoni then signed with the Yankees in 2008 where he played four seasons before joining the Braves organization.
