Let’s talk about that dirt. As you make the turn from Highway 80 onto Bass Pro Drive you may have seen trucks filled with dirt dropping their loads onto the land where Cavender’s is anticipating to open soon! Surveyors, CAT spreaders, underground pipes, water trucks, construction trailers and “tamping machines” (for lack a of a better description, these devices pack the dirt) have all been spied at the site. Founded in 1965 by James Cavender in Pittsburg, TX, Cavender’s is a retail chain providing a variety of western wear. Corporate offices are now located in Tyler, TX. This family business is known nationwide for its western wear including cowboy boots, western clothing for men, women and children, along with accessories, western hats and gifts. Cavender’s carries brand names such as Ariat, Rafter C, Miss Me Jeans, Corral, Lucchese and Tony Lama Boots, and Wrangler, to name just a few. Now, on to running and walking! The Outlets of Mississippi will witness two events in October of note. On Saturday, October 8th the 4th Annual Central Mississippi Down Syndrome Society Buddy Walk 5K + Kids Fun Run will take place at Trustmark Park and the runners will wind their way through the Outlet Center. On Saturday, October 15th, Trustmark Park and the Outlets of Mississippi will host the the annual Walk to Defeat ALS®, with registration at 9:00am and the Walk starting at 10:00am. This race will loop through the Outlet Center entering at adidas and Reebok and exiting the midway between Michael Kors and Coach. ALS is a disease that robs people of their ability to walk, talk, and eventually breathe, most commonly known as Lou Gehrig’s disease. Worst of all, there is no cure.
